Tumut Shire Growth Strategy Public Exhibition of Draft Tumut Shire Growth Strategy 2013-2033 Following the gazettal of the Tumut Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2012 (which was a standard instrument conversion LEP replacing Tumut LEP 1990 and Yarrowlumla LEP 2002), Council has prepared a draft Growth Strategy to guide its land use planning for the next 20 years. The major components of the Strategy are: 1. Consolidation of previous strategy documents into an overarching strategy; 2. Providing for the expansion of the Adelong, Batlow and Tumut urban areas; 3. Consolidating the industrial land uses on the western edge of Tumut township; and 4. Investigation of additional Heritage Items and Conservation Areas. Detailed Planning Reports have also been prepared for the Adelong, Batlow and Tumut investigation areas identified in the Growth Strategy. Council is seeking public comment on the Growth Strategy and associated reports and is placing them on public exhibition from Monday 17th June to Friday 16th August 2013. Competitive Neutrality Complaints and Procedures Policy - Gov.03 v1.2 - Adopted 29/09/2009. Competitive neutrality is one of the principles of National Competition Policy which is applied throughout Australia at all levels of Government, including Local Government. It is based on the concept of a 'level playing field' for competitors in a market, be they public or private sector competitors. Government business organisations, whether they be Commonwealth, State or Local Government, must operate without competitive advantages over private sector business as a result of their public ownership. Where Tumut Shire Council competes in the market place with private businesses, the Council must do so on the basis that it does not utilise its public position to gain an unfair advantage over private businesses who are in competition with the Council.
