The Community Strategic Plan is Council’s long term view of actions that need to be achieved. The Plan will be for a minimum 10 years and will identify the community’s priorities and aspirations. The purpose of the plan is to identify where the community wants to be in the future and to plan strategies for achieving these goals.
While council owns the plan and initiates, prepares and maintains it, it is not wholly responsible for every action identified in the plan. There will be other community groups and state and federal government departments that will contribute to making this plan happen.
The Community Strategic Plan directly aligns with councils Asset Management Plans, Long Term Financial Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan. All of these plans interlink and are reliant on each other. Council needs to ensure that what we plan to achieve for the future of our Shire is financially sustainable and that the community’s goals and aspirations can become financial realities.
Council is the key driver of the Community Strategic Plan, but its implementation is the shared responsibility of all community stakeholders. While many of the objectives relate directly to Council activities, some can only be achieved with help from the community, businesses, service providers, government agencies, other organisation and other stakeholders.
The Plan will be updated every four years and within nine months of a local government election. This is a great opportunity to re-engage with the community and look at what has been achieved and plan for the future.
