Strategic Planning

Briefly, this involves investigation of the physical environment and allocating the most appropriate uses for land.  This allocation is done by way of Zoning and a Local Environmental Plan (LEP).

A new LEP (Tumut LEP 2012) recently replaced the Tumut and Yarrowlumla LEP's.  Strategic Planning is also involved with the preparation of planning documents to guide future development in the Shire - For example the Parking Strategy and Rural Land Use Strategy

LEP  - (Tumut LEP 2012)

Tumut Shire Council is covered by Tumut LEP 2012.  This LEP is currently being revised under the NSW Governments Planning Reform Program (Tumut Growth Strategy).

It is intended that Council will proceed with the  preparation of an amending LEP following the completion of the Growth Strategy for the Shire; the preparation of Local Environmental Studies for locations which have been nominated as urban and rural residential expansion areas; and the inclusion of environmental and hazard constraints.

The proposal is essentially the project described in the Planning Reform Fund MoU between the Department and Council.
