Road Safety Plan

The 2014 -2017 Road Safety Action Plan recognises the ‘Safe Systems’ framework of Safer Speeds, safer travel, safer people, safer road user behaviour, safer roads and roadsides and safer vehicles.

 Tumut Shire Council is committed to ensuring effective road safety initiatives and strategies will be delivered consistently based on localised road safety issues identified. All road safety areas to be targeted have been determined through local road crash analysis, assessment and evaluation of previous road safety projects conducted, community consultation and internal consultation with Council managers.

 The priority target groups and areas have been identified as:

  • Speeding
  • Drink Driving
  • Motorcycle Safety
  • Heavy Vehicle safety
  • Pedestrian Safety
  • Safety around Schools
  • Young and inexperienced drivers

 The Road Safety Action Plan aims to deliver road safety outcomes focusing on:

  •  Driver/rider behaviour
  • Road user groups
  • Vehicle user groups
  • Factors contributing to road crashes
